Charles Hossein Zenderoudi was born on March 11, 1937 in Tehran; He is an Iranian painter, calligrapher and sculptor. As a pioneer in modern Iranian art, he is one of the first artists who included elements of Arabic calligraphy in his works of art. He is one of the pioneers of the Saqqakhane movement, a style of modern neo-traditional art found in Iran that is rooted in the history of coffeehouse paintings and the visual elements of Shia Islam. He lives in Paris and New York.
